With noone to keep them honest the government would choke us with laws as they lounge with their ill-gotten gains. Elected by the people, but they are quick to forget that they are the servants.[break][break] Noble houses had their turn upon a throne, and we all know how the last monarchy went. They can deny it and pretend as if the past has nothing to do with them all the way to the end of time. We know the truth. Even the illiterate dregs of society know that history. Nobles are the ones who ultimately made Eos the way it is today.[break][break] As for the self-proclaimed rebels? Revolution is a pretty, but wasted word when uttered from the blood soaked lips of murderers. Their cause is not righteousness, but chaos for its own sake. Without an authority to rail against they would turn on and tear apart the everyday people and inevitably, themselves.[break][break] The rich. The noble. The reckless. Let them fight and die in the darkness they spread, and let no one emerge victorious. That, is the only justice the people will find here. As a tribal born in Waas Forest far from the dizzying spires of Eos, Leviathan came to the city bringing a simplistic perspective: adapt to survive.[break][break] Her arrival ten years ago wasn’t a happy or willful one, but a migration forced by necessity. She left her tribe of mutants behind to support it in its time of need, finding employment in the city to help send funds home. To that end she’s had a rather colorful life as she bounced from career to career in search of something that satisfied her.[break][break] Leviathan spent the first three years of her new life as an archivist in the Academy of Eos. It was a fantastic place to acclimate herself to citylife, and help broaden her own education a little. Being an archivist helped expose her to knowledge that she wouldn’t have otherwise bothered with as well. For the most part it was a stable and easy, albeit low paying, job that kept the mutant busy. Aside from a wayward student’s magic project going horribly awry from time to time there wasn’t much excitement for her to sink her teeth into. Once she felt comfortable enough with her new environment she moved on.[break][break] The next three years of her life had been spent as a Knight. Being a hero to the people was a fantastic idea to her vainglorious mind at the time, and to her credit she performed her duties admirably. There were a fair share of gallant moments to be had as expected, but there certainly were plenty of heavy moments that really brought the mood down, too. After having her life put on the line one too many times for her liking, with a few close calls perpetrated by shadiness within the Council, Leviathan called it quits. [break][break] Sort of, at any rate.[break][break] She still believed that fighting for the everyday citizen was an honorable cause. Good people dealt a bad hand, and all. It resonated with the predicament her own tribe still faces to this day. Using contacts she made during her days as a Knight the mutant dove into the depths of the city’s Black Market, and never once looked back. It’s been four years now since she started swimming in dark waters. She works mainly as a fence for stolen goods, but publicly brands herself as a ‘professional treasure hunter.’ From time to time she does help the various factions of Eos ‘find’ things they need, though; especially if it helps them to impede the progress of other major players in the city. [break][break] Did your noble family have an heirloom stolen? Or maybe a high ranking Knight lost their keys to a secured area? Perhaps your midnight meeting of concerned, law abiding citizens needs something flashy to kick the party off? [break][break] If you’re looking for something valuable chances are Leviathan can help you find it. Of course, she cheerfully insists that she’s just another treasure hunter in need of some quick cash. |
